Lately, I’ve been suffering from a serious problem known as old laptop and desperately need to fix it. I’m not new to the buying a new computer scene so I got that going for me, which is nice. Upon research I often find people either kissing the products ass or caps locking something saying like: DON’T BUY THIS PRODUCT. You know. The usual stuff. However there are some comments I can’t stand when I read a review on a gaming computer.
“This laptop is great but its heavy”
Well DUH! It’s a gaming laptop, its basically a powerful complex machine that’s squeezed into a tiny space. I know when you pick up 10 pounds and try to lug it anywhere you may notice it’s heavy but what do you expect? Gaming machines can be heavy.
“This laptop heats up fast and it slows performance”
It is annoying when your computer over heats and your frame rate slows to a crawl but again, powerful machine anywhere from 10-20 pounds contained in something smaller than a brief case its logical to think if it doesn’t over heat you might think its dead. Sorry, this isn’t anything new. Anyone should know you need to cool your gaming machine. I would never run a game on a laptop without a laptop fan to cool it, or replacing its inside’s cheap adhesive to a better one that doesn’t capture so much heat.
And finally this comment: “This laptops battery life is only an hour when I play games? That’s lame!”
This comment alone shows that the commenter doesn’t know jack about computers. No crap! Games (like StarCraft and CoD) are very power programs that demand a lot of resources and ask CPU’s and GPU’s give them tons of power to run the game. If you buy a gaming laptop thinking you can take it literally anywhere for 24 hours unplugged and play games all day I’ve got news for you: You can’t. Just like smartphones don’t last all day when you use them, gaming laptops have the same problem and to be fair, how long does a desktop run without it being plugged in.
tl;dr : Gaming laptops are desktop replacers. They need a proper cooling method and to be plugged in at all times. They are only 10-20lbs so taking them to LAN parties is extremely convenient so that’s why people say they are portable, because they compare it to lugging a monitor and a huge case with them.
If your thinking about buying a computer straight from the manufacturer then do not take these comments too seriously.
